QUALITY TO GUARANTEE...

A LONG LIFE FOR YOUR VEHICLE

Choosing the correct lubricants and regular servicing is critical to ensure the long life of your vehicles
There are no shortcuts when choosing the right lubricant, as fuel economy, mechanical integrity, and longevity are all directly linked to the oil you use.

Fuchs and Valvoline lubricants are of the highest standard and if you use the prescribed lubricants for your vehicle you can guarantee you will maximise the life of your vehicles.

Part of the service that Direct Oils & Batteries offers is to guarantee you get the right information and the correct product every time.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT OIL

There has never been a more comprehensive or complex range of oil blends, grades and standards.

We stock a range of Fuchs and Valvoline oils that range from fully synthetic 0W/20 oils to mineral based 10W/60 oils.

There is no room for error and that’s where we can help you.

We can also go through your vehicle fleet with you and try to rationalise the range of products you need to use.

Using the incorrect oil in your vehicles can be a direct factor in the loss of fuel economy, excessive oil usage, blocked filters, and engine failure.

New oil brands are appearing on a regular basis most with questionable standards.

They pray on consumers who are looking for a cheap option to the major brands.

There is no short cut when selecting the correct lubricant and there is no miracle cheap oil that will meet the required standards or have approvals for the vehicle range that has evolved over the last 10 years.

As soon as you become complacent and buy a product because it appears cheaper than the rest, or sounds too good to be true, or don’t get the correct accurate advice it will cost you valuable time and money in the long run.

Different oil types

Synthetic oils.

Synthetic oil is a lubricant consisting of chemical compounds that are artificially made (synthesized). Synthetic lubricants can be manufactured using chemically modified petroleum components rather than whole crude oil, but can also be synthesized from other raw materials. Synthetic oil is used as a substitute for lubricant refined from petroleum when operating in extremes of temperature, because, in general, it provides superior mechanical and chemical properties to those found in traditional mineral oils.

Semi-synthetic oil

Semi-synthetic oils (also called 'synthetic blends') are blends of mineral oil with no more than 30% synthetic oil designed to have many of the benefits of synthetic oil without matching the cost of pure synthetic oil. ]
Lubricants that have synthetic base stocks even lower than 30% but with high-performance additive packs consisting of esters can also be considered synthetic lubricants..

Advantages of synthetic oils

The technical advantages of synthetic motor oils include:
• Better low- and high-temperature viscosity performance at service temperature extremes
• Better (higher) Viscosity Index (VI)
• Better chemical and shear stability
• Decreased evaporative loss
• Resistance to oxidation, thermal breakdown, and oil sludge problems
• Possibility to extended drain intervals, with the environmental benefit of less used oil waste generated
• Improved fuel economy in certain engine configurations
• Better lubrication during extreme cold weather starts
• Possibly a longer engine life
• Superior protection against "ash" and other deposit formation in engine hot spots (in particular in turbochargers and superchargers) for less oil burnoff and reduced chances of damaging oil passageway clogging.
• Increased horsepower and torque due to less initial drag on engine
• Improved Fuel Economy (FE) - from 1.8% to up to 5% has been documented in fleet tests.

MINERAL OILS

A mineral oil is any of various colorless, odorless, light mixtures of higher alkanes from a non-vegetable (mineral) source, particularly a distillate of petroleum.
Most often, mineral oil is a liquid by-product of the distillation of petroleum to produce gasoline and other petroleum-based products from crude oil. A mineral oil in this sense is a transparent, colorless oil composed mainly of alkanes] and cyclic paraffins.
Mineral oil is a substance of relatively low value, and it is produced in very large quantities.
